This is a caricature study of Barack Obama. It’s been over a year since I’ve done one so it was due. I did many crazy exaggerations of Obama when I was doing Photoshop contests but back then I was more concerned with the image being as absurd as possible and not so much about likeness and more correct exaggerations. This piece is not meant to be funny. It’s simply a portrait study of Obama done for practice. I’ve been real busy lately with some projects that didn’t allow me time to do these kinds of works for practice so I was happy to be back at learning what I love. These projects I’ve been working on weren’t really show pieces either hence the lack of posts lately. I’ve also been spending a lot of time building my social network. Google+ has been real good to me so I’ve put a lot of time and effort into increasing my presence there. With 3.1 million followers after a little over a year, it’s well worth my time there. If you’re not there, come and join me some time at www.google.com/+RodneyPike.
At the request of many of my friends, I will be doing a Beanathon soon as Mr. Bean has been by far my most popular character. I’m going to do a few more pieces so I’ll have around 25 manipulations in the collection.

The RWPike Project Winner – Arturo Adams
Dec 7, 2012
Last October I was contacted by a high school Digital Media Teacher in Orlando in Florida. She liked my work and shared it with her students. The teacher and her students came up with a new assignment called The “RWPike Project“. Students were to study my works and try their hand at creating a caricature in the “Rodney Pike” style using Photoshop. She sent the images to me and I put them in an album on Google+ allowing my one million plus followers to choose their favorite by plussing the images they liked most which I am now featuring here and on my blog. The voting is complete and the winner has been chosen. The official winner of the “RWPike Project” is Arturo Adams. Here is a word from Arturo and a sampling of his Photoshop work. Note: This feature will be shared among my entire extended network across the web, Google+, Facebook, Linkedin, etc. etc. That’s approximately 1.1 million direct connections. Congratulation to Arturo Adams and thanks to GiGi for bringing this to my attention. Let’s continue to promote the arts among our youth!!
The winning Caricature:
My name is Arturo Adams and I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. I’m 17 years old and a high school senior at Lake Nona High School. I have a passion for arts, ceramics, music, digital design and also paint. I first got interested in art my sophomore year when I decided to take Digital Design as an elective class. I felt really comfortable in the environment it had to offer. I then decided to further my art involvement by learning to play the guitar and after that, I knew what I wanted to be in life, an artist.
I feel that as an artist you get to express yourself in a more creative and unique way rather than bold words. It’s my mission to become and artist and make the world a little better with my passion.

Vic Gundotra – Top Google Executive Slightly Tweeked
May 3, 2012
Vivek “Vic” Gundotra is Senior Vice-President of Social Business for Google and was previously a general manager at Microsoft. I had the pleasure of meeting him this week in a Google+ Hangout. He’s a super nice guy and very down to earth. It’s nice to know we have someone at the top of the google ladder who not only cares about us little guys, but takes the time to visit with us in a very personal setting. Vic wasn’t the easiest caricature I’ve done. I did several sketches of him trying to decide which way to go with the exaggeration. He has a nice smile, strong jawline and pretty thick eyebrows, but that’s about all I had to work with. He’s one of those guys you just can’t make too ugly, so I decided to go very subtle which I think works best for him. Besides, he knows where to find me and I didn’t want to offend him. 🙂 Oh and Mr Bean in the background… don’t ask me how he got in there…??? Below is the original source image.
